Proper renovations with the right texture and finishing paint can bring back the life into your space. Sometimes calling in the best drywall contractors in Los Angeles is the only way to go to remove mold, patch holes, improve texture and feel, and repair water damages. We are your best choice when it comes to getting the job done right the first time for a killer deal!

What is drywall and why should you care?
Referred to as other names such as, plasterboard, gypsum board, sheet rock, or wallboard is large sheets of calcium sulfate dehydrate or gypsum. They are used by service professionals and carpenters for the inner lining of walls in the interior of most buildings. Some older buildings are lined with plaster, which is outdated due to the complexity and costliness, most commonly you will find gypsum board lining the interior of most buildings.

Important for many reasons the interior wall lining serves many purposes: It secures insulation in the inner framing of the walls to provide us with warmth in the colder months and keep us cool in the warmer ones. Sheet rock also improves safety providing a fire displacing barrier in the case of an interior fire, it actually displaces the fire to go up and around the walls and ceiling, making the room easier to escape. Most noticeably it enhances the aesthetics as it provides the foundation for texture and paint to be applied making the interior space customizable. As mentioned above you can now see the importance and complexity or your walls as they serve you in many ways. For these reasons it is important that proper drywall repairs, renovations, and updates are done by drywall contractor. Give us a call for any job you’ve got for us and we will be sure to take care of you!

When you hang something on the walls it’s the drywall that you are nailing or screwing into, even the ceiling, in most buildings, is lined with drywall. There is only so much space on the walls to hang stuff before there too many old nail holes to be covered by pictures and the cluster of nails and screws get overwhelming. There comes a point when there are just too many holes.

When repairing holes and dents we always make sure we have the correct patching tools. This is important, so that the damaged area is not damaged any further and will last for decades. Here are some of the techniques we use when performing hole patching and wall repairs.

Remodels and whole room or house installations:
Are you noticing crumbling or wilting, bulging or bubbling, or severe cracking? It might be time to get an estimate for a larger drywall repair project. Sometimes the damage is too severe to just do a quick patch job and needs to be inspected further. If you notice severe water damage it might be caused by an internal wall leak or other cause, we can do full panel replacements for a section or an entire wall, whichever is needed for the longevity of your building.

We don’t just fix holes and sections of drywall, we also offer a full room remodel or ceiling renovations. Whether you are remodeling the bathroom, kitchen, garage, or adding a new section to your home we are your go-to licensed contractors. We are happy to offer you the best service prices out there and look forward to taking on any project you’re working on.

Small holes, dings, and dents:
When providing a patching service we start by making sure the surface is clean and clear of any debris or dust. This is to ensure that the spackling or mud will bind to the sheet rock firmly as one. We will use a scraper or putty knife to scrape away any debris and cut off any raised areas. Then we will use a light duty mud and press it into the dent, ding, or small hole in the wall. After the mud dries we will use a finishing sander to sand away any raised areas and make the finish like new.

When repairing holes that are under 6 inches in diameter, usually from a door knob, something falling into the wall, or other accident. We like to use our own hole patching kit to fix these types of damages. We will clean the area, place a wire mesh over the hole, fill it with a light-weight joint compound, and feather it smoothly into the natural texture of the wall for an unnoticeable finish. Depending on the severity of drywall damage we might use a “California Patch” technique, where we match a freshly cut piece to the damaged area and secure it to the wall with compound.

Large holes:
When a hole is 6 inches or larger we like to patch the section with a freshly cut piece of wallboard secured with furring strips that we place in the wall for extra support. For this service we will cut around the damaged area, and match a fresh piece of new gypsum board. If needed we will screw in furring strips to the inside of the wall, these act as an extra internal frame so the new piece has a strong foundation to be mounted on. We then finish it up with some mesh lining over the joints and screws and texture the joint putty to match the rest of the wall. Badda bing badda boom!

Damaged Corner Repair:
When the corner beading of a wall is damaged, it’s a bummer, but we can handle that for you no problem. The beading of the corner is a light metal piece that takes the 90 degree shape of the corner. If needing repair we will cut out the damaged section with a hacksaw, measure up and cut a new piece of beading and nail or screw it into place. Then to finish it up we will apply the joint compound and sand the corner to its original 90 degree finish and matching wall texture.

Water Damage:
One of the most silent and life threatening conditions in any building is mold. Due to a water leak and excessive moisture buildup certain strains of mold can form an be life threatening. Water leaks can be very small and over time create a big problem. If you are noticing any wall distortion or bulging, water stains on walls, water leaking ion the floor, or excessive moisture on drywall, then please don't hesitate to call your drywall experts at LA-Handyman Service. We will give you a FREE QUOTE and can handle all your repairs needed for water damage whether it's drywall repair, plumbing repair, or all the above.
